Some of my friends in Minneapolis are behind one of the cooler travel opportunities I have come across in a while. The nation of Dominica in the Caribbean is looking for a handful of groups of two people to come to their nation and experience all that they have to offer.
You can learn about the opportunity at the Dominica Challenge website. Note that applications are due by February 28, 2014.
The winning applicants will have an all expenses paid trip to the Nature Island and in return film, photograph and tell stories about their adventure. Sounds like a fair trade to me.
Here is a sample video that was produced with footage from Dominica last year:
I have always been interested in visiting Dominica, from the time that I was a child studying islands on my world atlas. This desire was strengthened when a good friend of mine attended medical school on the island of Dominica from 2006-2008. Heck, even Gary Arndt spent some good time in Dominica last year during his Caribbean hopping adventure. Maybe it’s my turn now?
Having dabbled in some video and photography, I am seriously considering applying, but I’m not sure it would fit into the schedule. If you are an individual with the skills needed to shoot a compelling video, let me know and maybe we could form a team.
Many of you may have never heard of Dominica – or at least never considered visiting. Here’s a unique opportunity to visit a beautiful island, have a great experience and share your story. Aside from (nearly) free travel using points and miles, this may just be the next best thing.
