Hawaiian Airlines is running a 50,000 HawaiianMiles sign-up bonus special for a limited time. Typically, this sign-up bonus is just 35,000 miles.
The Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard from Barclaycard is probably the most popular credit card in the State of Hawaii. And it’s easy to see why. Hawaiian Airlines is the largest Hawaii-based airline and is the only airline that offers direct service to Las Vegas. The other airline that did, Allegiant, couldn’t sustain the service, and Omni Air operates as a charter for Vacations Hawaii.
Further, with Island Air now out of the picture, Hawaiian is often the only way to get around the islands now too. So Hawaiian is in a position that makes it even more critical to Hawaii residents. And because of this, Hawaii residents, of course, want to earn more HawaiianMiles. So, if you don’t already have the card and are thinking of getting it, now is the time to apply.
50,000 HawaiianMiles Sign-up Bonus
A 50,000-mile bonus isn’t unusual for this credit card. However, usually, applicants must create a dummy booking or apply onboard a Hawaiian Airlines flight to receive the offer. For a limited time, though, a link for this offer is available on Hawaiian’s website.
From now through December 31, 2017, applicants that apply through the above link will receive 50,000 HawaiianMiles after making $3,000 in purchase within 90 days of account opening. The normal offer is 35,000 HawaiianMiles for $1,000 in purchases within 90 days. Both offers also come with a 0% APR introductory offer for 15 months on balance transfers made within the first 45 days.
Annual Fee Waiver Option
Interestingly, the increased signup bonus isn’t the only offer currently running on this card. If you head on over to Bank of Hawaii’s website, you can get the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard with the annual fee waived for the first year. This will save you $89 in the first year, but it also means taking the usual, 35,000 mile sign-up bonus. The balance transfer offer is valid on the Bank of Hawaii offer too.
Additional Benefits
In addition to the above offers, cardholders receive the following benefits:
- one-time 50% off companion certificate for travel between Hawaii and North America
- complimentary checked bag for cardholder
- no foreign transaction fees
- 2x miles on Hawaiian Air purchases
- ShareMiles with friends and family for free
- 5,000 mile annual bonus when you spend $10,000 or more in a calendar year
- annual $100 companion certificate for travel between Hawaii and North America
50,000 HawaiianMiles Sign-up Bonus, Final Thoughts
Me? Though I’m a cardholder, I’m not really a fan of the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard card. The benefits are, well, mediocre compared to others, such as the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card. Further, other cards like the American Express Everyday Preferred can earn HawaiianMiles even quicker. Afterall, the Amex Everday Preferred earns 3x points on grocery stores, 2x points on gas, 1x on everything else, and a 50% bonus when you reach 30 transactions in a billing cycle. And Amex Membership Rewards points transfer 1:1 to HawaiianMiles, though a nominal fee does apply.
However, if you want to score a bunch of HawaiianMiles quick, this increased sign-up bonus offer is a good one. So take advantage of it now while you can!
