The Chase Sapphire Reserve is the most highly anticipated credit card product of the year. It launched in-branch, as rumored, on Sunday, August 21, 2016. If you’re like me and don’t have a Chase branch anywhere near you, then you had to wait. It was guessed that the online application would become available a day or two after the in-branch application. And like the in-branch availability guess, the Sapphire Reserve online application became available today, albeit via a link most of us found on Reddit.
Well, the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s official web page is now live, too. With the webpage live, this is the first time many of us are getting a good look at what the CSR has to offer. Not surprising, all the rumors were true. The CSR has to be the poorest kept secret in new credit cards… Ever! Everyone knew it was coming at least a month before it launched, and the rumors outlined exactly what the card would offer. There are a few things more things that require clarification, however, like what benefits comes with the card’s Priority Pass Select. But, those benefits should be cleared up soon enough, especially as people begin receiving their cards.
Of course, your’s truly applied for the card yesterday morning (Hawaii time).
Unfortunately, I got the dreaded deferred decision.
I doubt the 5/24 rule would apply to me, since I’ve only opened 3 new lines in the past 24 months. I do think, however, I may be approaching or have hit my aggregate credit limit with Chase. I’ll let you guys know what ultimately happens, but this is a card I’m determined to get one way or another. Not only is the signup bonus great, but the benefits are well worth the annual fee. Especially if you think about it this way… The annual fee on non-Global Entry renewal years is just $50 more than your Chase Sapphire Preferred. Assuming, of course, you make use of the $300 annual travel credit. That credit’s criteria is so broad, that it won’t be a problem to use, even for casual travelers such as myself.
I’ve got my fingers crossed, but we’ll see what happens. Will you apply for he Chase Sapphire Reserve as well?
