Well everyone, this is old news – you can now Earn Delta Miles with Airbnb Stays.
I know, I know, everyone knows. I lost the scoop, clearly I am devastated.
At the time of the release, we were just leaving our lighthouse cottage at Cape Nelson, Australia, and heading down to Robe just at the end of the Limestone Coast. Needless to stay the internet upload speed was not great, but the views and scenery were amazing.
Anyway, we are booking our first earning stay through the site. It is super easy! You should do it too!
Earn Delta SkyMiles with Airbnb Stays
Just in case you missed the release buzz with everything going on. Here is a summary of the offer from the Delta/Airbnb landing page.
How do I earn SkyMiles with Airbnb?
First, you have to do some admin. You have to 1) be a member of Delta SkyMiles and 2) be a member of Airbnb.
- Since everyone reading this blog is likely a SkyMiles member, I won’t go into details. If you are not and I have just insulted you, then can join SkyMiles through the offer (see upper right corner of the landing page).
- If you are not part of the Airbnb network, then go to the offer page and sign-up for Airbnb. You will get a $25 Airbnb credit, and 1,000 bonus miles just for signing up.
Now all the admin is out of the way, start booking Airbnb stays and earning SkyMiles.
Second, you have to book your stay through deltaairbnb.com.
This means bookings through the app will NOT earn you any miles. And, you cannot request milage credits for past bookings or direct bookings (aka bookings through the app or the Airbnb site).
Third, you have to complete your stay.
What amount of Skymiles do I earn?
You earn 1 mile for every USD (or USD equivalent) of the accommodation and guest fees – excluding fees and taxes. This means miles are earned on the rent amount and any cleaning fees (accommodation) and on the Airbnb service fees (guest fee). However, you will not earn miles on any taxes or government fees collected.
When do the Skymiles post to my account?
The miles will post after your stay is completed. Here is the kicker – it can take up to 8 weeks post stay. What!? I am hoping this is a “just in case we have any glitches timeline.”
Our booking does not wrap up until the end of March. Sooooo, it will be a while before we can confirm or deny the timing of the mile postings. If anyone knows actual timing, then feel free to share in the comments.
Can I earn miles as a host too?
Only if you are a brand new host.
Qualifying Host Earnings are similar to the qualifying guest fees. No milage will be earned on government fees.
Wait I have more questions!!
This should give you a general overview. If you still have more questions, then the landing page has a great FAQ page.
Is this a great deal?
Hey its better than nothing right? And, nothing is exactly what I was earning on these stays before this partnership.
I wouldn’t give up a hotel stay just for this deal obviously. Staying at an Airbnb really depends on your travel style and the type of trip you are taking. For longer trips, I like the access to laundry and a kitchen which is why we use Airbnb, so frequently.
