Hawaii’s own Zippy’s is opening its first restaurant in Southwest Las Vegas in the second half of 2020. But you can get your Las Vegas Zippys fix this weekend at a Hawaii-centric festival.
That’s right. This coming weekend (Easter Weekend), Zippy’s is going to be at the 18th Annual Pure Aloha Festival and Concerts. Attendees of the festival can expect food vendors (obviously), carnival rides, and live entertainment. In fact, I recognize a few of the entertainers as Hawaii-based groups are artists, such as Ekolu, Sudden Rush, and Ka’Ikena Scanlan, that are good.
How Zippy’s is Involved
Per their website, Zippy’s, with assistance from Hawaiian Airlines, is flying over 2,000 pounds of their famous original recipe chili. Of course, you’ll only be able to get the chili while supplies last. So go early if you’re determined to get your hands on some chili. And, in case you’re wondering, you’ll find Zippy’s booth near the main stage.
So, why is Zippy’s doing this? Obviously to build hype ahead of their new restaurant opening. But the official reason is to thank their Las Vegas fans for their patience and support.
Location
The Pure Aloha Festival and Concerts is taking place at the Silverton Casino & Hotel, which is near the Las Vegas Premium Outlets – North. Scheduling for the event is as follows:
- Thursday, 4/18: 5 pm – 12 am
- Friday, 4/19: 5 pm – 12 am
- Saturday, 4/20: 1 pm – 12 am
- Sunday, 4/21: 1 pm – 10 pm
Get Your Las Vegas Zippys Fix This Weekend, Final Thoughts
Personally, Zippy’s Chili is fine with me. I don’t care for it with just rice, though. To me, it’s best enjoyed as chili cheese fries or over spaghetti. But, hey, when you don’t live in Hawaii, I guess you take what you can get, right? But even still, there are other great things Zippy’s makes other than chili. So if you don’t like this stuff, I encourage you to give their restaurant a try when they do officially open in Vegas. For now, though, the Pure Aloha Festival is your best way to get Zippy’s famous chili. Just, you know, get there early, just in case.
