Q4 2024 Chase Freedom Bonus Categories

September 16, 2024 by Island Miler

Here they are, the final set of quarterly bonus categories for the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex. I gotta say, these coming categories are interesting, with a real winner along with some very limited use ones. So, without further adieu, let’s get into the Q4 2024 Chase Freedom bonus categories.

To me, this year has been a really interesting/bizarre mixed bag of bonus categories with Chase. The year started off with categories that focused on self-care, such as spas, salons, and more. Q2 blessed us with extremely lucrative categories, such as Amazon, hotels, and restaurants, some of which awarded us as many as nine points per dollar! Then, this past quarter gave us entertainment and vehicle fueling. So, what will the final quarter of the year give us? Let’s discuss the Q4 2024 Chase Freedom bonus categories, which is a really odd mix.

Q4 2024 Chase Freedom Bonus Categories

Yesterday was September 15, which means that the Q4 2024 Chase Freedom bonus categories became available for registration. For the final three months of the year those categories include:

  • McDonald’s
  • PayPal
  • Pet Shops and Vet Services
  • Select Charities

Of these, PayPal is obviously my favorite of the bunch. Many, many online retailers accepts PayPal, which makes it an extremely versatile bonus category, and has been one I’ve been using quite a lot throughout this year. Plus, for those of you who shop at CVS can even earn seven points per dollar by making purchases there via PayPal.

All of the other categories are, well, more questionable. For example, pet shops and vet services. While it would be incredibly easy to blow through the full $1,500 limit for these bonus categories, to make use of these categories, you’d either need to be buying a pet or already have one.

McDonald’s is another interesting bonus category. After all, while I’m sure there are many out there that go to one quite frequently, most people I know don’t. Heck, I probably go to one only once per quarter, if I’m honest.

As for the “select charities,” as of this writing, Chase hasn’t provided a list of what charities count in the Q4 Chase Freedom bonus categories. If I had to guess, I’m sure it’ll include the more major national charities and will likely exclude most local ones. Depending on where you live, that could make this category of more limited utility. I’m sure that will certainly be the case for me, as I donate to very Hawai’i-specific charities, especially ones that focus on conservation.

Final Thoughts

So, what do you think of the Q4 2024 Chase Freedom bonus categories? Or, a better question is, what are your favorite merchants to shop with using PayPal? As I said earlier, there’s so much flexibility with this one, it really doesn’t matter what you need to buy – whether it be home improvement materials, electronics, appliances, contact lenses, specialty foods, gifts for others, etc. I very honestly like this category better than Amazon.

At any rate, as always, head over to chasebonus.com to register for the Q4 2024 Chase bonus categories.
