Airport
Auckland International Airport (AKL) is located 25km to the south of central Auckland, and provides free internet Wi-Fi for 30 minutes is provided throughout the airport.
Transportation from the airport to central Auckland and suburbs includes bus, ride share apps, shuttle van and taxis.
Skybus runs 24 hours daily and takes about 55 minutes to reach the city center (CBD). The cost is about $18 one-way, online discounts are available.
Taxi fares may be $50-100 from the airport to a city location.
Mobile ride share apps Uber and Zoomy offer flat rate airport service to the central business district (CBD or downtown). Uber charges $70 to CBD whereas Zoomy charges between $39 and $66 (as of May 2017).
Ferry Station
Queens Warf for cruise ships and the Downtown Terminal. Ferry service is provided by several companies including SeaLink and Fuller’s.
Getting Around
Visits have a variety of ways to get around including bus, train, ferry, taxi, shuttle and hiring your own car. You can use the Auckland Transport website to find ways to get round Auckland using public transport.
Recently, an integrated ticketing system called AT HOP replaced the individual ticketing systems of the transit operators. AT HOP cards can be used on all Bus (including AirBus Express), Train and Ferry services in Auckland. AT HOP cards cost $10 (as of May 2017), can be topped up with a minimum of $5 and offer a minimum of 20% discount of the equivalent cash fare.
Weather
Auckland is situated in a temperate climate zone with a moderate climate all all times during the year. The summer months are from December through to March.
