It’s hotel loyalty program promotion season, and it’s Hyatt’s turn to make an announcement. Unfortunately, the Hyatt Spring 2024 promotion falls flat when compared to Marriott’s offering, which is unfortunate.
Marriott’s current promotion is shockingly good – earn 1,000 bonus points per night plus a bonus elite qualifying night (EQN) per night! Even better, the promotion doesn’t have Marriott’s typical nonsense of only earning the bonus on your second paid stay, etc. Unfortunately, Hyatt decided to go the other direction with the Hyatt Spring 2024 promotion and make it a decidedly unexciting and minimally rewarding one.
Hyatt Spring 2024 Promotion
For its first offer of the year, the Hyatt Spring 2024 promotion offers members 3,000 bonus points for every three nights they stay between March 1 (today) and April 30, 2024, at any of the 1,300 participating properties around the world. This means that, unlike the Marriott promotion, you can’t get, say, 5,000 bonus points for staying five nights. Instead, you’d receive 3,000 bonus points for a five-night stay or can earn an additional 3,000 bonus points (for a total of 6,000) if you extend your stay to six nights.
A positive difference the Hyatt Spring 2024 promotion has compared to the Marriott one is that eligible stays include both paid and award stays. While 3,000 points for three nights is hardly enough to make a dent in an award redemption, it’s still something.
Unfortunately, yet another difference between the two is another negative one – Hyatt caps your bonus points at 21,000. That means for you road warriors out there, you can only receive these bonus points for up to an aggregate of 21 nights.
Hyatt co-brand credit card cardholders can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points for every three nights stayed under the promotion with a cap of 7,000 points, which aligns with the aggregate 21-night limit of the main promotion. However, the credit card bonus is only valid at 522 participating hotels in the following countries:
- Australia (13)
- China (155)
- Germany (33)
- Hong Kong (5)
- India (49)
- Indonesia (18)
- Japan (33)
- Macau (2)
- Malaysia (17)
- Mexico (30)
- New Zealand (4)
- South Korea (7)
- Spain (63)
- Taiwan (7)
- Thailand (22)
- United Arab Emirates (13)
- United Kingdom (47)
- Vietnam (4)
That’s right. There aren’t any credit card bonus properties in the U.S. To search the complete listing, you can check out the dedicated hotel finder page here.
To participate in the Hyatt Spring 2024 Promotion, registration is required. Registration began yesterday and will run through April 15, 2024. To register, visit this page on hyatt.com.
Final Thoughts
It’s interesting to see how different Marriott’s and Hyatt’s first promotions of 2024 are. Marriott’s is quite lucrative, though it only applies to paid stays, whereas Hyatt’s isn’t as rewarding but is valid on award stays, too. However, Marriott’s value proposition gets even better when you consider the fact that 21 nights with them during the promotion period will net you 42 EQNs, which, when combined with the 15 you get for having even their no-annual-fee co-brand credit card, means you’d achieve Platinum status and be eligible for the first Choice Benefit.
Of course, Marriott Bonvoy isn’t what it used to be, and your mileage may vary in regards to how valuable Platinum status and that first Choice Benefit is to you. I myself place a greater emphasis on World of Hyatt nowadays, but that Hyatt Spring 2024 promotion is just so blah. Not that it matters to me, as I’m not traveling at the moment, but still.
