I have stayed at Kimpton hotels a handful times in the past and find that they are an overall pleasant experience. Not only are they very nicely decorated with a boutique hotel feel, they also have tremendous customer service. Add in their welcome receptions, great restaurants and loyalty program benefits and Kimpton is a safe bet for your hotel stays.
Kimpton would very well be my hotel chain of choice if they had more locations in the places I travel most often, but the reality is that there are rarely Kimpton’s available in cities I visit on business.
Even though I am not a frequent visitor of their hotels, I made sure to sign up for the Kimpton InTouch loyalty program in order to earn credit for my stays at their hotels. Signing up also added me to their mailing list, which keeps you up to date with what is going on in the program.
Today Kimpton sent me an email that caught my eye, by inviting me to raid the mini bar or restaurant bars at their hotels for $10 in free credits with every stay. The title and execution definitely caught my eye.
Kimpton Raid the Bar Campaign
Curious, I clicked through to a microsite where they described the program in greater detail. Even though some of the language is not fully clear as to whether I ned to sign up to receive this benefit, it appears that this is a standard benefit of the InTouch program and available to anyone who stays at the Kimpton. Not a bad deal at all.
One of my biggest fears in a hotel room is being charged for items in the mini-bar. This is likely an irrational fear instilled in me by my parents at a young age, which has made me very afraid of racking up a gigantic charge as I raid the hotel fridge.
Over the years this fear has subsided as I have stayed at hotels like the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden which makes their entire mini bar free and re-stocks it every day. Staying in tropical island nations where water from the mini-bar was my only option also helped me get over my fear of mini bars.
Maybe if I start staying at Kimpton hotels more often, I will finally be able to fully tackle my fear of mini bars.
