The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex summertime bonus categories have been revealed. And, I’m going to be honest, they’re kind of a letdown. In fact, one category has been broken up into two for this quarter. Nevertheless, it’s time to activate the Chase Freedom Q3 2024 bonus categories.
You win some and you lose some. The Q2 2024 Chase Freedom bonus categories were phenomenal! I knew I wouldn’t have an issue maximizing the bonus last quarter. However, I ended up hitting the limit after one purchase. Oh well! No complaints there. But, after such a great set of bonus categories, it seems as if Chase is pumping the brakes a bit, and giving us a bit of a snooze fest with the Chase Freedom Q2 2024 bonus categories. Well, I suppose it depends on your spending habits. For me, though, it’s not nearly as good.
Chase Freedom Q3 2024 Bonus Categories
Since we’re midway through June 2024, now is the time to activate the Chase Freedom Q3 2024 bonus categories. For this coming quarter, those categories include:
- Gas Stations
- EV Charging Stations
- Select Live Entertainment
- Movie Theaters
Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, Chase hadn’t updated their terms and conditions, so I can’t say what qualifies under their live entertainment category. That said, it’s interesting that they’ve broken out the EV charging station category from the gas stations one, which (if I’m remembering correctly) is how it was before. However, I can’t really say anything, since there are four categories overall rather than just three.
Despite having four bonus categories for the Chase Freedom Q3 2024 bonus categories, there isn’t much in the way of variety. Essentially, we’re getting two fuel categories and two entertainment. I don’t know what summer activities are in the Continental U.S., but here in Hawai’i, movie theaters are to see a movie you really want to see and/or to escape the summer heat.
Regardless, these bonus categories aren’t the easiest to maximize, at least based on my spending patterns. I can’t manufacture spend, and most of my money go towards necessities. So, entertained is pretty low down on the list. Moreover, I work really close to home, so I (thankfully) don’t spend all that much on gas. Ah, oh well. I’d rather save the money than earn extra points 😉.
Final Thoughts
While I think the upcoming bonus categories are lame, let me know how you feel about them. Again, I don’t see myself getting anywhere close to maximizing these bonus categories due to my pending habits. But, of course, I know there are those of you who can.
All that said, we’re halfway through the year now. As i said previously, I was able to absolutely blitz through the Q2 2024 categories, and I did pretty good with the Q1 categories, too. After all, it isn’t hard to spend $1,500 in three months on groceries – especially with how expensive everything has gotten.
