A few weeks ago I mentioned that Chase was really interested in getting me to burn my Ultimate Rewards points. In that post, I predicted that the next offer that Chase would be sending me was a hotel offer.
Sure enough, I received an email from Chase on Wednesday asking that I transfer my Ultimate Rewards to Priority Club (Intercontinental Hotel Group loyalty program). I actually received this email twice: once for my Ink Bold card and another time for the Ink Plus card.
Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Email for Priority Club
So I am proud to say that my prediction was spot on! It’s almost as if I do Internet Marketing for a living.
What was somewhat surprising about this promotion, however, was that it actually proved two of my theories wrong:
- This email came around 3 weeks after my last email from Chase. I had expected that it would be delivered one week after
- The offer was not sent to my account with an Ultimate Rewards balance of over 200k points. In fact, one of the accounts had a balance listed in the email of 0 points. How can one transfer with 0 points?
Needless to say, I think that the details don’t really matter here as much as the lesson: Chase is engaging in an email program that is designed to 1) introduce the benefits of transferring your points to their partners and 2) to get your points off their books.
Expect more of these in the future. I probably won’t be doing a post on each one I see, but if anything interesting pops up, I’ll surely post about it.
Any fun recent emails from Chase for you? Let me know in the comments!
