A while back, I wrote about visiting the Iao Valley and the Nakalele blow hole on Maui, including the drive on the road of death.
I talked bragged about it so much that I inadvertently made Mr. J want to see all three.
Now, if you are wondering why I am doing a second post on the same topic, then you are, obviously, an avid reader of this blog and I thank you.
However, I have two reasons for writing a second post on the same topic:
- Mr. J wanted to share some of the pictures he took.
- I wanted to show the difference a day can when visiting natural attractions. (You will also see the difference in quality of pictures that Mr. J takes compared to me with his hand-me-down camera.)
Without further ado here you go…
Also, if you are into photos, then you should follow @jeffsettertravel on Instagram. Mr. J has some really great photos.

Nakalele Blow Hole Compared
The day I went this sign was seriously accurate, and the blow hole was amazing.
The day I took Mr. J……
Not amazing at all, and the sign is laughable.
Hahaha, talk about a major let down.
You made me a lair hole.
Maybe a little bit better, but nothing compared to Mrs. J’s awesome day.
Here is a side by side comparison:

I tried to show two photos from the same angel and position. However, that was as close as I could get.
If I had stood in the same place as Mr. J then I would have possibly died or at least ruined my camera.
Here is a photo to illustrate.

When Mr. J and I went to the blow hole, we actually sat on the rock covered in the wave to have a rest and snack.
So as you can see, the day I saw the blow hole it is a “must see” but when Mr. J saw it, mmm I would say its a lower priority compared to other activities on Maui.
It’s hard to predict what mother nature will bring you, but regardless of the blow hole action the drive itself (either the easy or difficult drive) and hike are worth making the trek over to the Nakalele Point blow hole.
I will leave you with a few more photos, and then we do not have to speak of this topic again.
