Activities:
Palermo – largest neighborhood divided into two areas SoHo and Hollywood. SoHo is great to walk around and there are tons of little cafes and restaurants. There is some good street art in the allies.
Cooking Class – http://www.tierranegragourmet.com/ loved this!! it is a couple and you go to their house in Palermo. Wine pairings and great education, plus good food.
Recoleta
The Cemetery – free to enter, look up where Eva’s tomb is or follow tourists.
Grand Splendor – book store, you should see it take like 5 minutes
San Telmo
Huge market. If you go on Sunday – the market is in the street and enormous. The is tango dancing. Its a fun place to walk around – watch for pickpockets. The best street to walk is Calle Defensa between Avenidas San Juan and Independencia. You can grab some street food. Aka a choripan (sausage in bread) and a beer at the little choripan place on Calle Carlos Calvo between Calles Defensa and Bolivar – usually it has stools out the front. You should definitely slather on the both the red and the green chimichurri (spicy, garlicky marinade)
La Boca
This place is pretty well known for its colorful street former ghetto. If you want to see some excitement, then you should see a world famous Boca Juniors game (fúbol).
Shopping
Once this is a barrio (neighborhood) full of shopping streets- this has tons of stuff, its kind of like a nice flea market but is not used stuff, like the antique market. Its fun to walk around and a good place to get stuff, if you need to buy souvenirs. There are streets by item – “Calle por rubros”, so leather goods, lingerie, cooking, electronics, etc.
leather goods, this is the best place outside of Italy. Check out Murillo between Scalabrini Ortiz and Juan B Justo in Villa Crespo. High quality, low prices.
There is tons of other stuff – pink house (president), place barolo – building designed after dante’s inferno great views, etc. So let me know, if there is something you were thinking of.
