Chase Freedom 10% Cash Back March 2017

March 2, 2017 by Island Miler

The Chase Freedom is one of the most popular rewards cards available today.  It is one of the first of its kind, and though an older product now, it its still very relevant.  And to keep things interesting, Chase occasionally runs some lucrative offers.  The current lucrative, unscheduled offer is the 10% cash back March 2017 offer.

Freedom Basics

Chase Freedom is, understandably, one of the most popular cards available today.  I’m sure a great number of cardholders like the card for its rotating 5% cash back categories, which change quarterly.  Of course, those that play the points game know this card is great for earning more points.  When combined with a Chase Sapphire card, points earned with a Freedom card may be transferred to other programs at a 1:1 ratio.  So if you maximize your Freedom bonuses, you could earn 30,000 UltimateRewards points over the course of a year.

Cash Back March 2017

For Quarter 1 2017, the Chase Freedom has been offering 5% cash back on purchases at gas stations and transit.  But as it did last year, Chase is offering a brief, super lucrative offer.  For the month of March 2017 only, cardholders may earn 10% cash back on hotel and car rental purchase made through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

This March 2017 cash back offer is limited to $2,500 in spend.  it does not, however, impact the $1,500 quarterly limit.  Transactions that do not qualify under the quarterly offer or this March special will earn at a rate of 1 point per dollar.

Final Thoughts

If you maximize spend on both the March 2017 special, and all of the Freedom’s normal quarterly offers, you could earn 55,000 Ultimate Rewards points simply on bonus spend.  That’s not a lot of points, but when combined with a Freedom Unlimited (1.5%) and a Sapphire Preferred/Reserve (2%/3% on travel + dining), you can really rack up the Ultimate Rewards points quickly.  So if you can take advantage of the offer, I highly suggest you do.  The caveat, however, is that the Freedom does not provide primary auto collision coverage as the Sapphire cards do.
