Chase’s pandemic-era benefits are changing. Some are going away, while others are being adjusted and extended. And as you can probably guess, the changes primarily related to delivery services, so let’s go over the Chase DoorDash benefits in 2024.
When the pandemic slammed the world shut, many companies had to pivot to retain customers. Nowhere was this more dire than companies and offering travel-related products and services. After all, without being able to travel, why on earth would you spend $550 on a credit card that offers benefits and rewards aimed primarily at travel? Well, Chase was smarted and pivoted towards stay-at-home benefits, adding on things like DashPass memberships, DoorDash credits, Instacart+ memberships, and Instacart statement credits, among others.
However, with the world more or back to normal, issuers have little incentive to keep these benefits as they were, so now we’re seeing changes. So let’s go over the new Chase DoorDash benefits in 2024, and discuss what it’s replacing.
Chase DoorDash Benefits in 2024
First, let’s go over the bad news. As I’m sure you all know, Chase’s Instacart benefits are no more. Available across many of its cards, the Instacart benefits provided monthly or quarterly statement credits, along with three to twelve months of Instacart+ membership. You had until July 31, 2024, to take advantage of all of these, though those with a Sapphire Reserve or JP Morgan Reserve card and activated the membership this year, you get to keep the membership for into 2025.
I know many people were upset that the Instacart benefits went away, but it seems that Chase is actually replacing it with something. That something is, of course, the DoorDash benefits in 2024.
Sapphire Reserve + JP Morgan Reserve
First up, Sapphire Reserve and JP Morgan Reserve cardholder now retain their complimentary DashPass membership through 2027. Also staying at the $5 per month statement credits, which you can bank for up to two months, for a total credit of $15. However, beginning on August 1, 2024, that’s last Thursday, these cardholders also begin receiving two $10 promo codes for month, which are only valid on non-restaurant orders. It’s worth noting that you must use the entire value of these codes or you forfeit the remaining value. Also, unlike the $5 credit, these do not rollover.
Sapphire Preferred
Like the above cards, Sapphire Preferred members retain complimentary DashPass membership through 2027, and will also receive the $10 non-restaurant benefit, though they’ll only receive one promo code per month.
Freedom and Slate
With the Chase DoorDash benefits in 2024, cardholders with the free Ultimate Rewards cards aren’t getting left out. They still get nine months of DashPash for free, along with another nine months at 50% off. These cardholders also get the $10 non-restaurant credit, however, it’s only available once per quarter, and only so long as these cardholders have DashPass.
Co-Brand Cards
Yup, the Chase DoorDash benefits in 2024 continue to extend to their co-brand credit cards, including 12 months of complimentary DashPass and the same quarterly $10 non-restaurant benefit as the Freedom and Slate cards. It’s worth noting that three co-brand cards do not qualify for these benefits, which are the Amazon Rewards Visa, Instacart Mastercard, and the DoorDash Mastercard.
New Benefits Coming
Interestingly, the benefit page on DoorDash’s website states that a new DoorDash benefit is coming to the Freedom, Slate, and co-brand cards. However, further information was given, aside from the fact that an official announcement will be made in February 2025.
Chase DoorDash Benefits in 2024, Final Thoughts
It’s nice to see a new benefit being added to offset the loss of the Instacart ones. However, I personally would’ve preferred to keep the Instacart ones. For one, you can order from Costco through them, and they have a much broader selection of merchants
