If you studied World War 2, you may recognize the name Kehlsteinhaus as the German word for Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest. Now a tourist destination, the Kehlsteinhaus has a lot of history behind the beautiful views.
I first learned about Kehlsteinhaus while watching the Band of Brothers miniseries on HBO and I have wanted to visit ever since. I had the opportunity to visit during my honeymoon in October of 2012, and I took advantage of the situation by taking hundreds of photos of the beautiful surroundings.
Here are some of my favorite photos taken during the journey up to the top of the mountain, where Kehlsteinhaus sits, as well as views from the top of the mountain. While these pictures may not be the same as being there yourself, I hope you can enjoy the beauty from your computer screen.
If you ever have a desire to visit, I highly recommend a trip to Berchtesgaden and visiting Kehlsteinhaus. Well worth your time.
Enjoy a beer where Diplomats used to visit.
