This weekend was the perfect Northern California weekend. It started with a short hike to the top of the east peak of Mount Tamalpais (the car does most of the work, with the hike only being about a mile roundtrip). Check out these great views!
After that, we drove down the mountain to the coast, where we drove on the Pacific Coast highway up to the Tomales Bay Oyster company. Eating oysters fresh out of the ocean quickly became one of my favorite things about living in the Bay area.
At that moment, with a sunny day on the water, shucking my own oysters and having a glass of wine that made me feel certain about my choice to move out to California last summer. There is just so much natural beauty packed into such a close proximity to San Francisco that I always see something new.
Next, we drove to Lagunitas brewing company for beer and chicken wings. Both were fantastic, along with the pulled pork nachos. Live music, biergarten atmosphere, Lagunitas was a perfect turf compliment to oysters out of the ocean.
Finally we made our way back to the city and enjoyed conversation and laughs with some dear friends. It was the perfect Saturday.
P.S. Mrs. Jeffsetter and I have started to call these experiences “date packages” because they can be perfectly bottled into a one-day adventure from San Francisco. I believe that this is date package #9. I got the idea from Sam Malone on the show Cheers. I didn’t understand the jokes when I was young, but that one stuck with me. Would you be interested in hearing about these date packages as blog posts?
