May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii Nei. And to celebrate, Hawaiian Air usually runs a contest to celebrate. This year was no different with the return of the Hawaiian Air annual Lei Day giveaway.
Lei Day Giveaway
This year, as was the case last year, Hawaiian Airlines is giving away 140,000 HawaiianMiles. That’s enough miles for two roundtrip tickets between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland. Unlike last year, however, there is no quiz to take. All you have to do is to simply fill out the form and press submit. You may enter only once during the entry period, which runs from May 1 thru May 31, 2017. The grand prize drawing will occur on or around June 17, 2017.
What Can You Do With 140,000 HawaiianMiles?
As the contest states, 140,000 HawaiianMiles will get you two roundtrip tickets between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland. But this will only work at the Saver (60,000 each) and Super Saver (40,000 each) levels. The miles can be used as you please, though, which means they’re good for a number of different award flights.
- 1 Coach Flex or First Class Saver award between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland (80,000 miles)
- 2 Coach SuperSaver tickets between Hawaii and Pago Pago, Samoa or Papeete, Tahiti (110,000 miles)
- 1 Coach SuperSaver ticket between U.S. Mainland and Pago Pago, Samoa or Papeete, Tahiti (95,000 miles)

- 9 Coach SuperSaver tickets within the Hawaiian Islands (135,000 miles)
- 7 Coach Saver tickets within the Hawaiian Islands (140,000 miles)
- 4 First Class Saver tickets within the Hawaiian Islands (120,000 miles)
This list doesn’t even include First Class Upgrades, which range from 50,000 miles roundtrip between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland to 90,000 miles between Hawaii and Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and China. Nor does this include redemption options on partner airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia, Virgin America, JetBlue, Korean Air, and ANA. Those, however, represent pretty terrible values, so its best to avoid partner redemptions with HawaiianMiles.
Hawaiian Air Annual Lei Day Giveaway Final Thoughts
HawaiianMiles don’t provide the best value out there, not even for travel on Hawaiian Airlines. But 140,000 HawaiianMiles are nothing to sneeze at either. 2 free coach tickets between Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland, or even one free ticket to Australia is still a great thing to have! And yes, these are miles, which can be devalued, but they’re still worlds easier to use than disAAdvantage miles. Just don’t plan on holding onto these miles for too long. Plus, entering the contest will take you all of 2 minutes too, so it really is a no brainer.
So where would you go with 140,000 HawaiianMiles?
