Help Your Fellow Travelers With Hotel Wifi Test

July 29, 2014 by jeffsetter

I came across a cool concept the other day that I have not found written about often in the travel blogosphere. It is a service called Hotel Wifi Test and allows you to search for hotels with the fastest wifi speed.

Hotel Wifi Test

For a business traveler, this could be an excellent filter when it comes to searching for hotels in new areas. Rather than relying on the hotel’s description of their service (i.e. their website saying “High Speed Internet”) you can view actual results from real users and understand which hotels have the best wifi.

Even better, if you wanted to contribute to the website (which we all should do to make the service better), then you can run a speed test from your hotel and submit the results.

Pretty cool concept!

No more complaining about wifi – hop on alternative site (or alternative site Speed Spot) before your next trip.

Be careful about these results. ISPs often give preference to connections to speedtest.net. I can only imagine how easy it would be for hotels to do the same and beat the system.
