Hotels.com 5% Discount Code: Targeted Promotion or Loyal Customer Reward?
Last week I received a seemingly targeted offer from Hotels.com to take 5% off a hotel if I booked before April 21, 2013. I’m wondering if I was truly targeted as a loyal customer or if this is sent to everyone?
In looking at the promotion code (which I have intentionally blurred out of the image above), it looks like it may be a unique code just for me, but it’s hard to tell. Has anyone else received this email?
Most Major Chains Excluded
While this promotion is available for 5% of many hotels, you will notice that most major hotel chains are excluded. I don’t really view this as a big deal, however, because I book rooms with major chains directly through their sites or via other means. I only really use hotels.com if I want to book a boutique hotel room that isn’t part of a points program.
The biggest benefit I see to booking through hotels.com is their loyalty program where you receive a free night after 10 nights booked through hotels.com. The value of the free night is the average nightly rate you pay for those 10 nights. I just used my most recent credit to receive more than $200 off of my upcoming stay at the New Hotel in Athens in early April.
I’m Giving Away my Hotels.com 5% Discount Code
If you have a need to book any room on hotels.com before April 21 and you were not part of this targeted promotion, leave a comment or tweet @jeffsettravel. I would love to give you my code so it doesn’t go to waste.
Did you get a Hotels.com 5% Discount Code yourself? Was it really a loyalty play for me or a run of the mill discount?
