Hawaii-Exclusive Hydro Flask Colors

October 10, 2017 by Island Miler

Heads up!  Hawaii-exclusive Hydro Flask colors are now on-sale in Hawaii!

If you’re a fan of those steel, vacuum-insulated bottles known as Hydro Flasks, then you probably have a few different colors in your collection.  And while most colors are easy to find, there a three you won’t find anywhere but the Aloha State.

Hawaii-Exclusive Hydro Flask Colors

The three, Hawaii-exclusive colors are vibrant, two-tone colors.  And each of these color combos carries a Hawaiian name, reflecting the inspiration for the colors.

From right to left, the first color is called Moana.  No, the color isn’t named for or inspired by Disney’s hit movie, Moana.  The two-tone blue color gets its name from the Olelo Hawaii word for ocean, which happens to be Moana.  And it’s easy to see why; the light blue transitioning into a dark blue is evocative of the way the ocean’s color transitions from light blue near to darker and darker colors the deeper you go.

The second color of the collection is called Anuenue, which means rainbow in Olelo Hawaii.  This one, though, I don’t quite get, as the purple-pink bottle doesn’t really remind me of a rainbow.  It’s still nice, though.

And the last color is, of course, the yellow-pink one and is called Pomaikai.  The English translation of Pomaikai is sunset, which does nicely match this color combination.  Sunsets in Hawaii, after all, often have hues of yellow, pink, red, and orange in them.  Especially under the right conditions.

Hawaii-Exclusive Hydro Flask Colors, Final Thoughts

I like my Hydro Flask, but I only own one.  And I’m fine with that.  If I were to buy one of these Hawaii-exclusive colors, it would probably be the Moana one.  But, I highly doubt I will.  I’m not sure what the pricing is on these bad boys, but I’m sure it’s higher than usual.  However, if you’re visiting the islands in the near future and are in the market for a new Hydro Flask, keep your eyes open for these exclusive colors at the retailers listed above.  And remember, if you purchase your Hydro Flask from Foodland, Down to Earth, or Whole Foods, use your Amex EveryDay Preferred to earn 3x Membership Rewards points!  Those points, as you know, transfer 1:1 to HawaiianMiles.

The flasks are generally priced at $47, so just a couple dollars more than the same sized flask

Mahalo, Matt! Greatly appreciate the pricing info!

Yes, they were $47 on these special ones when I saw them at Whole Foods. As of today, October 15, some of the retailers you listed didn’t yet receive there order – but the Maui Whole Foods definitely had them!

Thanks for the update, Liz! I have yet to see them Oahu, but I admit I haven’t been looking, nor have I been to any of these retailers in the past week or so.

Do any of the retailers ship to California?

Aloha Joyce! I’m not certain, but I don’t think so. Your best bet may be checking eBay.

I saw these at the Kailua Whole foods but they only had the 40oz size. Is that the only size available?

Aloha Colleen! I believe the 40oz is the only size the Hawaii colors come in.

Is it only on specific islands

Aloha Kendall! You should be able to find the hydroflasks on all islands, so long as one of the listed vendors is on the island.

Can you do Football team colors in the same fade? Like white fade to yellow then to black for steelers? Or yellow fade to green for the packers ? Etc.

I bought two in Maui in a shop in Whalers Village, I think it was the Cruise clothing store, expensive but very beautiful. My granddaughter requested one for Christmas (how to they find out about these things) and I decided to buy one for myself. They had just gotten them in that day. Not sure how fast they will sell out.
