I am back, while Jeff is busy teaching he has left me responsible for the blog. Naturally, I have not posted anything until recently asked by someone (begins with a J and ends with an eff), if I was ever going to write a post. So here it goes….
When Jeff first told me that we were staying at the Heritage House for my retirement trip, I thought Jeff was literally putting me in a “home.” However, the Heritage House Resort was anything but the stereotype I pictured in my mind. Jeff gave you a preview of this delightful resort with one of his awesome pictures. Obviously, I cannot compete with his HDR pictures. He has assured me that he will add some of his pictures to this post (as it needs it) when he has free time between presentations.
The Heritage House Resort is located on Hwy 1 in Little River, California.
The resort looked adorable! Love it!
Jeff booked the hotel through a Jetsetter.com flash sale. The room was a deluxe oceanview king. Specifically, we were in Greenwood 11, if you look at the resort map.
Yes, this is the kind of place where the rooms have names. Love it. It reminds me of the old glamorous resorts of the 50s and 60s. Think of where Baby and her family stayed in Dirty Dancing, but on an ocean. If you have not watch that movie, you should. Our room looked like this:

The bathroom has separate sinks to prevent those morning arguments. The rainfall shower was great after a long day outdoors.

As you can see from Jeff’s pictures the room was amazing. The staff was courteous and quite helpful. It was touch and go for Jeff while the internet was out for a full 24 hours, but he made it out alive. I rather enjoyed disconnecting for a few hours.
You will see that the resort map and resort website designates our room as a deluxe room. However, our layout was that of a premiere oceanview room based on the website. Bonus! The resort is currently undergoing a remodel. The classification of the rooms could change after the remodel. For now, try booking a deluxe room and receive a premiere upgrade by asking for Greenwood 11. The remodel did not disturb our stay at all – no construction noise or visible mess.
After the drive up, we decided just to have dinner at the resort for our first night there. It was fine. The service was great, but the food was just fine. I can’t even tell you what I had. Oh, we did have a the appetizer special, seared ahi tuna. The special was a generous portion, cooked perfectly with wasabi avocado sauce. I, also, demanded the flourless chocolate cake to go. After all, it is my retirement.
The bar reminds you of an old school lodge and they had a word fire going. However, there was no dancing, but I was not put in the corner. The smell was intoxicating along with the view and grounds of the resort.
Post dinner, we took a stroll on the walking trails to take in more of the views.
After breaking two corkscrews, we had a glass of wine and the delicious flourless chocolate cake on the deck to watch the sunset (aka the fog rolling in).
The stay was amazing. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of California.
