My Favorite Photo of the Golden Gate Bridge

April 3, 2015 by jeffsetter

Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset

Last week I went on a photo safari to capture the Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset. The day was clear, so I figured there would be no fog getting in the way of the perfect shot. There were no clouds in the sky – just clear views of the Golden Gate and the Marin Headlands in the background.

I took many photos and enjoyed them all. But this one has to be my favorite.

Steve – here are the details. Camera is the Sony A7R with the 24-70 Zeiss lens. 3 Exposure HDR with -3, 0, +3. Blended in Photomatix to get the coloring you see in the photo. Made a few more adjustments in Lightroom and then brought into Photoshop to do a little work. In Photoshop I put a motion blur on the water in order to

Jeff, what was your process in Photomatix to pull out this color or to achieve it? Thanks and a reall nice shot

In photomatix I really just go through the presets to find something I like and then tweak the sliders to see if I can make incremental enhancements. This particular set of photos looked really good with just about every preset.

so the golds and oranges where really already in the photo and you did not change in LR…Fantastic! I always try to get the deep golds and oranges and find it a challenge :-)

I have found photomatix brings out these colors quite well from the photos. I try not to go too far from what the eye sees with enhancements – but I do think photomatix makes everything more balanced
