During last week’s photo session in Point Reyes we spotted this shipwreck from above while on our drive to the point. I had to pull over and get a shot of this boat perfectly embedded on the beach, slowly weathering away. This area is called Bolinas Point in Inverness.
It turns out that this may be one of the most photographed boats in California, judging from the numerous Google Images results. Many of those photos were taken when there was enough water to reflect on the boat, but I was not fortunate to have a reflection during this stop. I’ll have to make another trip.
I have been trying to find more information about the unfortunate history of the SS Point Reyes, but my searches have been fruitless to this point.
