Today is another travel day. I used to get excited to say that, but now I wish I could stay put for just a little longer.
But the show must go on!
I thought a good post for today would be showing a video I shot with my drone earlier this week in Wanaka, New Zealand. The video was shot via my DJI Phantom 3 Drone (recently repaired) and the camera was controlled by my iPhone.
When I got home, I learned that I could download the clips I shot to my phone in HD and then arrange them into a video right within the phone. Pretty awesome!
Here is a short 60 second video I put together of my flying over Wanaka.
Drone video over New Zealand from Jeff Sauer on Vimeo.
While I would like to have some more control over the editing process, this is a pretty darn good start if you ask me.

Great, now go to Milford Sound and do this off of the cruise boat :)

Thought definitely crossed my mind. But after my recent crash, I’m sticking to solid ground while flying.

I’d be terrified of putting a nice camera onto any drone. I saw some guys in Europe fly a pretty fancy looking drone with a high end Nikon dslr and it made me cringe.

Definitely! But those are usually professionals who make money off the video + are probably insured. An amateur like me with a great camera is a recipe for disaster.
My heart does skip a beat every time I lose contact with the thing. So far it keeps on coming back!

Fantastic! That is both stunning and drone video.
