Crowne Plaza Auckland – Review Summary

The Crowne Plaza Auckland is centrally located in the heart of Auckland close to the waterfront. The rooms are nice and comfortable as you would expect from a Crowne Plaza.

Club access may be purchase with any room and is included with rooms located on the club floor. Depending on your rate, breakfast may be included.

Given the location, we would recommend staying here if you should find yourself in Auckland for a few days.

Detailed Review

The Property

This is a pretty typical Crowne Plaza. The service is friendly and the staff helpful.

The Breakfast

The breakfast buffet is decent with both light and hardy options.

The Club Room

In the evening, the club room offers a happy hour with chilled appetizer. One night they did have a hot appetizer.

A great selection of New Zealand beers and wines. Non-alocoholic drinks are available, as well.

Crowne Plaza Auckland Review-1124

The seating is comfortable, and the club was not over crowded.

If you arrive early enough, then you can grab a seat by the window and catch the sunset.

Crowne Plaza Auckland Review-1120

No breakfast was offered in the club room.

The Room

The room is typical of a Crowne Plaza. The best part of the room is the view.

The rest is pretty tpical of a Crowne Plaza, so I will just share the pictures with you.

    Cross posting on both reviews
We are going there in July for a short 3 night stay. Hilton diamond and ihg platinum. I have reservations booked at both Hilton and crowne plaza on points. Need to decide one of these two and cancel other.
2 adults and 2 kids. Not planning to rent a car. Will take a tour of Milford sound one day.
    Which hotel you recommend?
I would not get club or breakfast at crowne I assume.

Hmmm – I would stay at the Crowne Plaza with no car for this short of stay. The Hilton is really nice, but I think you will enjoy the location of the CP much more, especially if this is your first visit to Queenstown. You will much easier access to the town and restaurants.

This review is the CP in Auckland, but I would assume the CP in Queenstown is just as nice (if not nicer).

I think that CP will offer you a discount on club access and breakfast as a platinum member, if you are not ask about it. I can’t remember exactly what the pricing was in Auckland, but it was worth it to get the club and Mr. J got breakfast (I can’t eat enough at the buffets for it to be worth it typically). If it isn’t a good deal, then you are in town and you can easily grab a non-hotel priced breakfast or brunch.

We have also had luck with CP hotels, where they will give us an “upgrade” but it is floor level and view not a suite or high class room (or maybe its a classic to a deluxe room or whatever term they use to describe lowest class and second lowest).

You guys will love Milford Sound – it is amazing.

Not sure how old your kids are, but I would also recommend a 4×4 tour if it is in your budget and you are not skiing. We did the Lord of the Rings Safari, which takes you to see some amazing scenery, pan for gold and a stroll through the quaint and cute Arrowtown. You can see our post on it here

If you ski, then I would ski.
