This is a delightful property. Not that I had reason to believe otherwise, of course. But with two nights at the Hotel Schloss Fuschl sandwiched in between stays at "sure thing" hotels - the Intercontinental Davos and the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden - I wasn't sure what to expect. … [Read more...] about A Tremendous Hotel in Austria – Hotel Schloss Fuschl Review

Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach
That's quite the mouthful, isn't it? But I'm not sure how else to describe this view from Drake's Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore. My feet got soaking wet from the incoming waves, but not before taking hundreds of photos of the area. This picture involved climbing on top of the slippery algae covered boulder to get a shot of the water that the ocean left behind in a … [Read more...] about Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach
Wildflowers in Point Reyes National Seashore
It's my first spring in California and it feels... about the same as the rest of the year. Of course, there are some changes in the air. The winter rains brought green to the area. There are wildflowers popping up everywhere I drive. Things are quite nice you could say. … [Read more...] about Wildflowers in Point Reyes National Seashore
Hotel Review: Intercontinental Davos, Switzerland in Pictures
When you have a week to kill before you need to be in Germany on business, what do you do? Stay at fine hotels in the Alps of course. Our first stop is the Intercontinental Davos. I have wanted to stay here since I saw it reviewed on Travel is Free last year. If it's good enough for Drew and Carrie, it's surely good for the Jeffsetters as well. … [Read more...] about Hotel Review: Intercontinental Davos, Switzerland in Pictures
Flying Over Aitutaki in the Cook Islands
There may be no more beautiful approach on a destination than the flight to the near-atoll of Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. If you are flying in from Rarotonga (the most common option for foreigners), you will be delighted with views of the entire lagoon before landing. Make sure you pick a window seat for this one. Flying over Aitutaki provides views normally reserved for … [Read more...] about Flying Over Aitutaki in the Cook Islands
Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California
During last week's photo session in Point Reyes we spotted this shipwreck from above while on our drive to the point. I had to pull over and get a shot of this boat perfectly embedded on the beach, slowly weathering away. This area is called Bolinas Point in Inverness. It turns out that this may be one of the most photographed boats in California, judging from the numerous … [Read more...] about Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California
My Favorite Photo of the Golden Gate Bridge
Last week I went on a photo safari to capture the Golden Gate Bridge at Sunset. The day was clear, so I figured there would be no fog getting in the way of the perfect shot. There were no clouds in the sky - just clear views of the Golden Gate and the Marin Headlands in the background. I took many photos and enjoyed them all. But this one has to be my favorite. … [Read more...] about My Favorite Photo of the Golden Gate Bridge
Early Morning Mountains on Safari in South Africa
I am not a morning person, but views like this are worth waking up for! … [Read more...] about Early Morning Mountains on Safari in South Africa
Neverending Arches in Munich, Germany
One of my favorite parts of Europe is the views you can find from above. This often involves taking an elevator to the top of a tower and snapping photos of the surrounding area. While elevators are convenient for those on the go, I often find taking the stairs creates even more photo opportunities. This was the case on our recent visit to Munich. Sure we got to take photos … [Read more...] about Neverending Arches in Munich, Germany
Sun Setting on the Base of the Golden Gate Bridge
I was trying to figure out a way to get a picture of the sun setting on the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, but alas that just didn't seem possible without a boat. Instead I had to settle for seeing the sun shine through both the base span of the bridge, as well as some beautiful flowers currently in bloom. I quite like the result. There are many places … [Read more...] about Sun Setting on the Base of the Golden Gate Bridge
