If you've been following along with my Valentines weekend trip to Maui, you'll know that we stayed on the Wailea side of the island. Unfortunately we weren't able to make it into the Lahaina/Kaanapali area this time around. However, the previous two time we were on island we did make it a point to get out to Maui's west side. We weren't staying out that side, but I made it a … [Read more...] about Dining Review: Star Noodle

New Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite
The buzz lately has been the rumored new Chase Sapphire Reserve card. I thought it would be the first Visa Infinite card by Chase, but to my surprise it wasn't. Instead, Chase released the new Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite card as it's first Infinite product. The new Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite card replaces the Ritz-Carlton Visa Signature card. The two cards look fairly … [Read more...] about New Ritz-Carlton Visa Infinite
Delta Adding Meals to Hawaii
Flying economy in the U.S. has long meant no meal service. Period. However, that trend has slowly begun to change this year. Up until recently, Hawaiian Airlines was the only domestic carrier still offering complimentary meals in all cabins. Then, back in February, American announced that it would offer meals on Hawaii flights. Recently, rumors have been emerging about … [Read more...] about Delta Adding Meals to Hawaii
Maui Roadsters
As any frequent traveller knows, or as any car guy will tell you, rental cars suck. Usually they're some boring, vanilla car, or worst, a totally piece of junk. Sometimes you luck out and get a gem. Or perhaps you went and rented a luxury car or some "performance car" from a big rental agency. Those are better, but they aren't different, and in the case of performance cars, … [Read more...] about Maui Roadsters
What to do During a Tropical Cyclone
Tropical Storm Darby was the first topical cyclone of any type to directly impact Oahu in over a decade. It's been just one of many, however, that have impacted the Hawaiian Islands in recent years. The chaos that ensued, though, and questions that arose from friends that didn't grow up here got me thinking. A great blog post to write would be what to do during a tropical … [Read more...] about What to do During a Tropical Cyclone
Ali’i Kula Lavender
When we arrived at the Andaz Maui in Wailea we were informed that our room wasn't ready yet. Rather than wait around for an undisclosed amount of time, the wife and I decided to head out. Not wanting to be gone too long we simply headed to Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm on the slopes of Haleakala. The final couple of miles to Ali'i Kula Lavender are really windy and narrow … [Read more...] about Ali’i Kula Lavender
New Caledonia – Half Land Half Water [Photo Stitching]
So how many of you have seen one of these half water half land pictures floating around the internet or Pinterest? Super cool, right. Mr. J informed me these are stitched or Photoshped pictures, or you have to have the right lens. I being the inquisitive or analytic person that I am did not believe Mr. J. [Mr. J refers to this beautiful quality as … [Read more...] about New Caledonia – Half Land Half Water [Photo Stitching]

Hawaiian Airlines is giving away 140,000 miles in their Eat Like a Local Sweepstakes! To win, all you need to do is visit Hawaiian Air's Facebook page, like it, and click the "Eat Like a Local" tab. Still, you've got a chance … [Read more...] about Eat Like a Local Sweepstakes
Pacific Beach Hotel Redevelopment
The Pacific Beach Hotel is a local landmark and one of the largest hotels on Oahu. The property has 839 rooms across two towers and is home to a 280,000 gallon aquarium. In fact, the aquarium is the centerpiece of the Oceanarium Restaurant, a locally popular buffet. I'm personally not a fan of either the hotel or the Oceanarium Restaurant. And it isn't because the hotel is … [Read more...] about Pacific Beach Hotel Redevelopment
