My Thoughts on World of Hyatt

October 28, 2016 by Island Miler

The big news in the world of travel this week was undoubtedly Hyatt's loyalty program change.  The change, though, comes at an interesting time, in my opinion.  So let's talk about the World of Hyatt a little. For those not already familiar with the situation, Gold Passport is going away.  Hyatt's new program, the World of Hyatt, will be replacing Gold Passport come … [Read more...] about My Thoughts on World of Hyatt

Hyatt Centric Waikiki is Opening on December 8

The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach, as previously reported, is the first Hyatt Centric property in Hawaii.  The property's page initially listed the opening date as "Winter 2016."  Reservations then opened up for March 15, 2017, and beyond last month.  Now we've learned that the Hyatt Centric Waikiki is Opening on December 8, 2016. The new opening date was reported in an … [Read more...] about Hyatt Centric Waikiki is Opening on December 8

Waikiki Select-Service Hotel Comparison

September 7, 2016 by Island Miler

Select-service hotels, such as Courtyard & Hyatt Place are quickly spreading around the world.  They're supposed to be a cheaper alternative to full-service properties like Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, etc.  And as the category name suggests, these hotels typically offer just basic services.  You definitely will not find room service or concierges' at these properties, for … [Read more...] about Waikiki Select-Service Hotel Comparison

Hyatt Centric Waikiki is Opening on December 8

Hyatt Centric Waikiki now available for booking with dates from March 15, 2017, and beyond.  Originally slated to open during winter 2016, the property seems to have experienced a slight delay in opening.  Technically March 15 is still winter, though just barely, and it isn't going to be 2016 anymore.  ? No matter, the Hyatt Centric Waikiki looks like it's going to be a … [Read more...] about Hyatt Centric Waikiki Now Available for Booking

Review: Andaz Maui

August 2, 2016 by Island Miler

We weren't at Ali'i Kula Lavender long before I received a call from the Andaz Maui.  Our room had become available, so after looking around for a few more minutes, we headed back to Wailea.  It took us nearly an hour to get back to the Andaz Maui, which seemed like an eternity.  Having been teased with the promise of a "special room," I was eager to see what exactly that … [Read more...] about Review: Andaz Maui

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach Coming Soon

July 19, 2016 by Island Miler

As Miles to Memories , mentioned last week, Hyatt is expanding in Hawaii once again with a third hotel in Waikiki, the Hyatt Centric Waikiki.  Part of Hyatt's new Hyatt Centric brand, the hotel will provide a more boutique experience.  And now we have an idea on what the property will look like and what kind of amenities we can expect. Unlike the Hyatt Regency Waikiki … [Read more...] about Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach Coming Soon

Hyatt Demonstrates the Proper Way to Announce a Devaluation

November 12, 2013 by jeffsetter

Yesterday evening I blogged about Hyatt’s Devaluation of 2013 and shared my thoughts on the change. Long story short is that no devaluations are good, but this one wasn’t as bad as others. Late last night I received a relatively proactive email from Hyatt announcing the devaluation, and I consider it to be a clinic on how to properly relay bad news to your customers. Here is … [Read more...] about Hyatt Demonstrates the Proper Way to Announce a Devaluation

Hyatt Gold Passport Devaluation 2013: The Losers and a Winner?

November 11, 2013 by jeffsetter

Last night Hyatt announced that they would be devaluing their award chart by increasing the number of points needed for certain awards and adding a new level of redemption (Level 7) which increases the number of points needed for an award night at 6 Park Hyatt Hotels by 8,000 points (36% increase). In addition, Hyatt is changing their valuable suite upgrades to be 6,000 points … [Read more...] about Hyatt Gold Passport Devaluation 2013: The Losers and a Winner?
