Wine Wednesday: Spring Flowers and New Vines in Sonoma Wine Country

April 15, 2015 by jeffsetter

One of my favorite perks of living in San Francisco is the proximity to wine country. I am fortunate to visit wine country about once every 3-4 weeks, and it has been fun to take in all of the seasons in the area. … [Read more...] about Wine Wednesday: Spring Flowers and New Vines in Sonoma Wine Country

Hagia Sophia in Istanbul

April 14, 2015 by jeffsetter

I need to get back to Istanbul. Both for the food and the views. It would be incredible to photograph the Hagia Sophia now that I know what I'm doing with a camera. This morning Mrs. Jeffsetter read that Turkish Airlines now has a direct flight from IST to SFO. I told Mrs. Jeffsetter that this was old news, and I had booked this flight nearly a year ago (but later canceled … [Read more...] about Hagia Sophia in Istanbul

A Tremendous Hotel in Austria – Hotel Schloss Fuschl Review

April 13, 2015 by jeffsetter

This is a delightful property. Not that I had reason to believe otherwise, of course. But with two nights at the Hotel Schloss Fuschl sandwiched in between stays at "sure thing" hotels - the Intercontinental Davos and the Intercontinental Berchtesgaden - I wasn't sure what to expect. … [Read more...] about A Tremendous Hotel in Austria – Hotel Schloss Fuschl Review

Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach

April 12, 2015 by jeffsetter

That's quite the mouthful, isn't it? But I'm not sure how else to describe this view from Drake's Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore. My feet got soaking wet from the incoming waves, but not before taking hundreds of photos of the area. This picture involved climbing on top of the slippery algae covered boulder to get a shot of the water that the ocean left behind in a … [Read more...] about Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach

Austrian Airlines Business Class Review – New York (JFK) to Vienna (VIE)

April 9, 2015 by jeffsetter

I had to be in Hungary for a business trip and I was open to flying a new airline. After many searches, I settled on a route of SFO-JFK-VIE-BUD, with the transatlantic segment on Austrian Airlines. … [Read more...] about Austrian Airlines Business Class Review – New York (JFK) to Vienna (VIE)

My Hilton and Live Nation Concert Experience

April 7, 2015 by jeffsetter

Last week, Hilton treated Mrs. Jeffsetter and me to a concert experience in San Jose. They offered tickets to see Maroon 5 at the SAP Center and a car service to get us there from San Francisco. We accepted. While Maroon 5 is not a band I would pay to see on my own, I knew a few songs and figured the concert would be fun. Our tickets were pretty close to the … [Read more...] about My Hilton and Live Nation Concert Experience

Wildflowers in Point Reyes National Seashore

April 7, 2015 by jeffsetter

It's my first spring in California and it feels... about the same as the rest of the year. Of course, there are some changes in the air. The winter rains brought green to the area. There are wildflowers popping up everywhere I drive. Things are quite nice you could say. … [Read more...] about Wildflowers in Point Reyes National Seashore

Hotel Review: Intercontinental Davos, Switzerland in Pictures

April 6, 2015 by jeffsetter

When you have a week to kill before you need to be in Germany on business, what do you do? Stay at fine hotels in the Alps of course.  Our first stop is the Intercontinental Davos. I have wanted to stay here since I saw it reviewed on Travel is Free last year.  If it's good enough for Drew and Carrie, it's surely good for the Jeffsetters as well. … [Read more...] about Hotel Review: Intercontinental Davos, Switzerland in Pictures

Flying Over Aitutaki in the Cook Islands

April 5, 2015 by jeffsetter

There may be no more beautiful approach on a destination than the flight to the near-atoll of Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. If you are flying in from Rarotonga (the most common option for foreigners), you will be delighted with views of the entire lagoon before landing. Make sure you pick a window seat for this one. Flying over Aitutaki provides views normally reserved for … [Read more...] about Flying Over Aitutaki in the Cook Islands

Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California

April 4, 2015 by jeffsetter

During last week's photo session in Point Reyes we spotted this shipwreck from above while on our drive to the point. I had to pull over and get a shot of this boat perfectly embedded on the beach, slowly weathering away. This area is called Bolinas Point in Inverness. It turns out that this may be one of the most photographed boats in California, judging from the numerous … [Read more...] about Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California
