I am having a lot of fun reprocessing photos as I learn more post-production techniques. This photo was taken in January of 2015 during my photo hike from Lands End to Marshall's Beach in San Francisco. At the same time, sometimes I prefer the boldness and surreal images from Photomatix. It is more focused on the imagination rather than reality. That's the fun part about … [Read more...] about Golden Gate Bridge from Battery to Bluffs Trail

Lake Tahoe Sunset
Back to back sunsets on this blog! While sometimes I seek out sunsets for the colors in the sky, there's other times where I am simply finding time to operate the camera come sunset. That was the case for me in January, after getting in a full day of skiing at a nearby Lake Tahoe resort. Before turning back to San Francisco, I had to check out the lake. Luckily I had my … [Read more...] about Lake Tahoe Sunset
View from East Peak of Mount Tamalpais, Northern California
This weekend was the perfect Northern California weekend. It started with a short hike to the top of the east peak of Mount Tamalpais (the car does most of the work, with the hike only being about a mile roundtrip). Check out these great views! After that, we drove down the mountain to the coast, where we drove on the Pacific Coast highway up to the Tomales Bay Oyster … [Read more...] about View from East Peak of Mount Tamalpais, Northern California
Green Mountain Reflection on a Reservoir in Marin County, California
Today, I will be going on an adventure in Marin County just north of San Francisco. In honor of that exploration, I thought I would share a video from my photo journey through Marin back in March of this year. I doubt the area will be as green, but surely things will still be beautiful. … [Read more...] about Green Mountain Reflection on a Reservoir in Marin County, California
View of the Golden Gate from Twin Peaks, San Francisco
Confession time: Before I moved to San Francisco, I thought that "Golden Gate" was simply the name given to a bridge connecting San Francisco and Marin County. Then I saw a map of San Francisco from around 1900 and noticed that the body of water separating the two areas had Golden Gate written on it. Why would it say that when the bridge was still 30 years from … [Read more...] about View of the Golden Gate from Twin Peaks, San Francisco
Doing Touristy Stuff in My Own City – Golden Gate Bridge Photos During Spring Flower Bloom
After spending two weeks in the European alps in March, I don't have any exotic or international travel booked until July. Then all hell is breaking loose (more to come). That means many domestic photos and experimentation with my camera. And awesome pictures of the San Francisco bay area. I hope you don't mind too much. Sure, I will mix in photos from the archives. I'm … [Read more...] about Doing Touristy Stuff in My Own City – Golden Gate Bridge Photos During Spring Flower Bloom
Front View of Neuschwanstein Castle in Winter
At first I was disappointed that the weather at Neuschwanstein castle was so drab during our visit. But when the structure is this impressive, who really cares about the weather? After lunch, we walked up the hill to Neuschwanstein castle. It was as majestic as you might expect, especially with the snowy setting. The photos turned out well, considering the freezing rain … [Read more...] about Front View of Neuschwanstein Castle in Winter
Oyster Delivery in Tomales Bay, California
On a sunny day, hundreds of bay area residents will flock to the Tomales Bay Oyster Company for picnic tables and charcoal grills. You bring all of the supplies, condiments, and more. They supply the Oysters. I made the mistake of going here without any supplies back in February. That's a mistake I will never make again! … [Read more...] about Oyster Delivery in Tomales Bay, California
Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach
That's quite the mouthful, isn't it? But I'm not sure how else to describe this view from Drake's Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore. My feet got soaking wet from the incoming waves, but not before taking hundreds of photos of the area. This picture involved climbing on top of the slippery algae covered boulder to get a shot of the water that the ocean left behind in a … [Read more...] about Mini Tide Pool on an Algae Covered Rock on a Pacific Ocean beach
Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California
During last week's photo session in Point Reyes we spotted this shipwreck from above while on our drive to the point. I had to pull over and get a shot of this boat perfectly embedded on the beach, slowly weathering away. This area is called Bolinas Point in Inverness. It turns out that this may be one of the most photographed boats in California, judging from the numerous … [Read more...] about Shipwreck at Bolinas Point – Point Reyes, California
