Waikoloa Beach Marriott Conversion

Rumors have circulated among the Marriott loyalist about a possible Waikoloa Beach Marriott conversion.  Supposedly Marriott Vacation Club sales people, some of them anyway, have been telling prospective buyers and/or current owners about plans to flip the property.  It appears that these rumors are true, at least in part. In an article ran earlier this week, the Pacific … [Read more...] about Waikoloa Beach Marriott Conversion

September 9, 2016 by AJ

Airbnb, the loved and hated marketplace for sharing space across the globe, continues its launch of City Hosts. This new website offers a unique localized perspective of the city. In other words, Airbnb is trying to tap a trending tourist market, where tourists don't want to be tourists. Currently, City Hosts is under beta testing. This means you have to be invited … [Read more...] about Airbnb Launches City Hosts

Waikiki Select-Service Hotel Comparison

September 7, 2016 by Island Miler

Select-service hotels, such as Courtyard & Hyatt Place are quickly spreading around the world.  They're supposed to be a cheaper alternative to full-service properties like Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, etc.  And as the category name suggests, these hotels typically offer just basic services.  You definitely will not find room service or concierges' at these properties, for … [Read more...] about Waikiki Select-Service Hotel Comparison

Disney Aulani Turns 5!

September 1, 2016 by Island Miler

A few days ago Walt Disney Hotels & Resort's celebrated a milestone.  The resort officially opened on August 29, 2011, so this year Aulani turns 5.  And of course, Disney celebrated by announcing new features for the resort. No, Aulani isn't adding any new attractions as part of its celebration.  It is adding new (to the resort) characters, however.  Those characters … [Read more...] about Disney Aulani Turns 5!

Hyatt Centric Waikiki is Opening on December 8

Hyatt Centric Waikiki now available for booking with dates from March 15, 2017, and beyond.  Originally slated to open during winter 2016, the property seems to have experienced a slight delay in opening.  Technically March 15 is still winter, though just barely, and it isn't going to be 2016 anymore.  ? Andaz Maui Dining

August 10, 2016 by Island Miler

The Andaz Maui is a nice resort with great rooms on a beautiful beach.  But what sets the Andaz Maui apart from many of the other properties around it is it's dining.  Andaz Maui dining has a more local focus than other resort restaurants, though only at its own dining outlets.  In total, the Andaz Maui has 5 dining venues: Ka'ana Kitchen Lehua Lounge Bumbye Beach … [Read more...] about Andaz Maui Dining

Review: Andaz Maui

August 2, 2016 by Island Miler

We weren't at Ali'i Kula Lavender long before I received a call from the Andaz Maui.  Our room had become available, so after looking around for a few more minutes, we headed back to Wailea.  It took us nearly an hour to get back to the Andaz Maui, which seemed like an eternity.  Having been teased with the promise of a "special room," I was eager to see what exactly that … [Read more...] about Review: Andaz Maui

Courtyard Waikiki Beach

Courtyard Waikiki

Following our wonderful stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the wife and I needed to stay in a hotel another night.  This wasn't by choice and was last minute.  Not wanting to waste points, I looked for the cheapest rate I could find.  And rather than simply staying at the HHV another night, I decided to revisit the Courtyard Waikiki Beach. It's been a while since the wife … [Read more...] about Courtyard Waikiki Beach

As Miles to Memories , mentioned last week, Hyatt is expanding in Hawaii once again with a third hotel in Waikiki, the Hyatt Centric Waikiki.  Part of Hyatt's new Hyatt Centric brand, the hotel will provide a more boutique experience.  And now we have an idea on what the property will look like and what kind of amenities we can expect.
