July 21, 2019 by Island Miler

After our post-hike treat at Salt & Straw, headed to a light lunch at Boudin. Then, I wanted to get a view of the Oakland Bay Bridge, and the best way to do that is visiting San Francisco's Treasure Island. … [Read more...] about Visiting San Francisco’s Treasure Island

Southernmost Point in the United States (Hawaii)

January 15, 2016 by jeffsetter

Back in July 2015, the Jeffsetters visited Ka Lae (the southernmost point of the US) on the Big Island of Hawaii. Many of you may think you have have been to the southernmost point in the US by having your picture next to the buoy in the Florida Keys. Mr. J thought he had circa 2008. … [Read more...] about Southernmost Point in the United States (Hawaii)

Lava Fields in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

December 2, 2015 by jeffsetter

At first I wasn't impressed with Hawai'i volcanoes national park. We paid an entry fee and drove to an active volcano viewing area. Because of safety concerns - you know, because of the active volcano and all - we could only get a certain distance away from the smoldering opening. So after 30 minutes in the park, this was the best photo I was able to take. Good, but afar. … [Read more...] about Lava Fields in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park

View from the 122nd Floor of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai

November 10, 2015 by jeffsetter

While I'm still not sure how I feel about Dubai, I did enjoy high tea at At.Mosphere restaurant in the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa. The views are pretty nice, but the haze around Dubai limited visibility. With the glare coming into the windows, photo options were limited. But I still liked how this photo of the Dubai Mall and fountain turned out. … [Read more...] about View from the 122nd Floor of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai

Aerial View of the Isle of Pines in New Caledonia

November 9, 2015 by jeffsetter

New Caledonia is already an "out of the way" destination, but adding Isle of Pines on top of it? You will need to add travel day on each side of your trip. Even then, a smooth journey isn't guaranteed. Our first flight was canceled (mid flight). We were denied the second flight. The third time was a charm, as we finally were able to set foot on the fabled pine … [Read more...] about Aerial View of the Isle of Pines in New Caledonia

The “Goonies Rock” in Cannon Beach, Oregon

November 5, 2015 by jeffsetter

It's funny how cognitive bias kicks in at all points of my life. My brother visited the "Goonies Rock" in Oregon over 10 years ago, but I never thought about it again. … [Read more...] about The “Goonies Rock” in Cannon Beach, Oregon

A Castle in the Rolling Hills of Barolo, Italy

November 1, 2015 by jeffsetter

Finally on solid ground in the United States, and figured I would do a brief post with a picture that just keeps on drawing my attention above all others. We were eating lunch on our way to the castle of Barolo, which conveniently houses the wine museum (where you learn about the history of wine). It takes about 2 years to get your final bill (and pay the bill) in Italy, so … [Read more...] about A Castle in the Rolling Hills of Barolo, Italy
