Following up on my post about inter-island flight pricing the other week, today I’m taking a look at Hawaii-West Coast pricing observations. And, the results weren’t quite what I expected.
Southwest Airlines Hawaii
Recently, I was looking at flights between Honolulu and Kahului and made some interesting Intra-Hawaii flight pricing observations that can help you save money whether you fly Hawaiian or Southwest.
Great news, Hawaii travelers! Southwest now serves all major Hawaii airports with the inauguration of the Airline’s new Hilo service this past weekend. But their growth in the aloha state isn’t over yet.
Currently, ANA has two Airbus A380s flying between Hawaii and Japan. But, the final Flying Honu enters service this summer, adding even greater capacity between Japan and Hawaii. Plus, Southwest’s VP of Network planning talks about the Airline’s Hawaii service.
For our flight back to Oahu, we flew Southwest Flight 1470. And while both flights were mostly the same, the ground experience was, well, drastically different. Not in a good way either, might I add.
Last week, Southwest Airlines gave surfers an early Christmas present. Surfboards fly free on Southwest! However, this applies only to intra-Hawaii flights; you’ll still need to pay for your board on flights to and from the islands.
