Review: Sahra Spa at the Cosmopolitan

August 4, 2017 by Island Miler

On our final day in Las Vegas, I decided to treat Mrs. Island Miler and I to some pampering at the Sahra Spa.

As my first Las Vegas adventure came to a close, I wanted to have some pampering.  This was a really last minute decision, and I didn’t end up booking our treatment till the night before.  I know Vegas has some really inexpensive options, but I wanted something convenient and nice.  So after a bit of searching, I settled on the Sahra Spa and Hammam at the Cosmopolitan.

Location & Service

Like I previously stated, the Sahra Spa is located at the Cosmopolitan.  More specifically, it’s located on the 14th floor of the Chelsea Tower, which is right off the lobby.  The spa itself is located right off the elevators and is fairly easy to find.

Sahra Spa

Service at checkin was very professional, yet friendly.  And once we completed our paperwork, Mrs. Island Miler and I were split up and given a tour of our respective relaxation and locker areas.  We were also shown the couples’ lounge, which is the only co-ed area of the spa.

Mrs. Island Miler and I prefer to spend our spa time together, so it was a little disappointing to not have a co-ed area, but it wasn’t a deal killer.  We simply relaxed in the lounge, which was comprised of two separate rooms with a few chairs and some refreshments.  I would have liked to see a bit more effort put into this area, but it was nice enough and was quite peaceful.

Once it was time for our treatment, our therapists came to fetch us.  They each introduced themselves to us, noting which of them would be our therapist and escorted us to the treatment room.  Both were genuinely friendly, professional, and personable.

Treatment

On this day, I had booked us for a 50 minute Essentials Massage, which allows you to customize the massage from technique, to pressure, and focus.  I like this type of massage because, well, I decide exactly what I want.  Unfortunately, it’s also incumbent on the therapist to actually deliver.  That being said, our treatments were just ok.  The pressure never really got to the level that we wanted, while the focus wasn’t quite what we wanted either.  Could we have been more vocal?  Yes, but I’d rather not have to do that, so it completely our therapists’ fault.  It’s worth noting, however, that my therapist did seem like he felt a little under the weather.

The room itself, like the rest of the facilities was nice.  It was very tranquil, with a nice temperature and soothing, neutral music.  No funky smells either, nor was there any outside noise leaking it.

Sahra Spa Final Thoughts

The Sahra Spa provided a different experience for us.  Thus far our spa experiences have all been in Hawaii, with our favorite so far being Laniwai at Disney’s Aulani.  And our favorite Laniwai remains.  Our experience at Sahra was, overall, fairly mediocre.  There was nothing wrong with our therapies, but it wasn’t anything special either.  The facilities themselves were also very nice and serene, but they lacked any meaningful co-ed space.  I understand that having that type of space is our preference, and thus far only Laniwai really delivered on that.

That being said, Sahra Spa is someplace I’d consider returning to in the future.  For now, it is one of the more reasonably priced hotel spas on the strip, and earning Identity Points at the spa doesn’t hurt either.
