The last trip I went on out of state before COVID-19 hit was a quick one for a friend’s wedding last July. So, let’s kick-off my last pre-pandemic trip report with the long weekend in Portland introduction.
My mom’s one must-do thing in Oregon was to visit the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. Tulips, after all, are her favorite flower. So, on our last full day in Oregon, that’s exactly what we did – visit the festival.
Having been away from home for five nights by now, my grandparents wanted some sort of Asian food. So, remembering seeing the place on Eater, I decided to take them to give Master Kong a try.
While in Portland, the site my grandparents and mom wanted to see most was the Portland Japanese Garden. It’s a popular attraction within the larger Washington Park, which sits above downtown Portland.
On our first full day in Portland, we did your typical sightseeing things. For lunch, though, we popped into Canard PDX in Portland’s Lower Burnside.
After hitting all our major sites in Seattle, we headed for Oregon, which is someplace my grandparents had never been to. And, for our base of operations while there, I chose the Residence Inn Portland Downtown Pearl District.
